Catenary Transit Initiatives launches first-ever donation drive to support transit and routing research and public information
SAN DIEGO — Catenary Transit Initiatives, developers of the Catenary Maps web application, are today launching a donation drive to help develop advanced transit tracking systems that work at global scale. Catenary is collecting donations through Open Collective to ensure maximum transparency and ease of donation. “This is a big step forward for Catenary to provide more services to more users and get the resources we need to progress,” Catenary CFO and board member Chelsea Wen says. Funds will go directly towards our research and development, including acquiring new servers and infrastructure to keep the project running smoothly for daily users.
Users that want to donate and support the Catenary mission can do so on Catenary’s Open Collective page, at opencollective.com/catenarymaps or via the Catenary website. Several tiers of donation amounts, as well as custom donation options are available.
Plus, when the Catenary community bands together and donates $300 or more, we’ll send Catenary executive director Kyler Chin biking down the San Diego County coast- in a maid costume. “This is insane but I’m more concerned about the drag from the skirt,” Kyler says. Regardless of what Kyler thinks, one donation is essential to the Catenary mission and can go a long way. “If you get any use at all out of Catenary, and have the means to do so, please consider donating and supporting our project. Catenary can only continue to have no ads, no paywalls, and thousands of vehicles thanks to the generous support of donors. Plus, who doesn’t want to see Kyler in a maid costume? That’d be hilarious and you should donate just for that,” says Samuel Sharp, Catenary lead community manager. When a $300 donation total is reached, Catenary will share information about Kyler’s ride from Oceanside to San Diego across social media and other channels.
