Catenary community crushes through first donation goal!

SAN DIEGO — In just a few weeks, the Catenary community has exceeded its first donation goal of $300! “This is such an exciting time for Catenary. Thanks to our amazing community and all their support, we’re reaching new heights and creating a better transit world for everyone - built around creating connections. We can’t wait to see where Catenary goes next,” says Samuel Sharp, Catenary’s Public Information Officer.

“Even more important than monetary support though is your feedback - especially from non-technical users and people with disabilities. We at Catenary will do our best to ensure everyone's needs are met,” says Jacob Whitecotton, lead community manager for Catenary. “We’re also proud to announce major improvements to Catenary Maps, made possible by your donations and feedback. We’re continuing to improve and build upon the performance of Catenary’s mobile app, and later this week we’ll have an exciting announcement for Catenary’s first-ever desktop app!”

And of course, as promised, we’re now ready to send Catenary executive director Kyler Chin biking down the San Diego County coast. In a maid costume. Yes, he’s still worried about the aerodynamics of the skirt. The route is now official, and will run from the heart of Oceanside to iconic Chicano Park in San Diego’s South Bay - via historic Pacific Highway, UC San Diego, Clairemont, Reynard Way, Downtown San Diego, and Barrio Logan. We’ll release a full turn list and route for anyone who wants to follow along later this week, and thanks to your support we’ll be able to hold this exciting event just in time for National Bike Month, which takes place in May!

Users that still want to donate and support the Catenary mission can do so on Catenary’s Open Collective page, at opencollective.com/catenarymaps or via the Catenary website. Donations are still vital for continued development, as funds will go directly towards our research and development, including acquiring new servers and infrastructure to keep the project running smoothly for daily users. Several tiers of donation amounts, as well as custom donation options are available.
